YEAH- a new blog!
Well, If you managed to find this-Howdy! This is where I'll be posting updates and what not on my genealogical research and probably rambling on about things I like/hate. :) Mostly I hope to use it to keep from doing research others have already done and to make my findings available so that I don't have to sit around and make copies of everything for everyone- some of it you can get for yourself :) Baker, Goode, Wheeler, Spoerr and Wessel researchers- not that these lines are unimportant but I am not currently working over much on these lines as I'm preparing AK's first families of ohio application and I'm not in the best spot to research those. However, I did add 4 new generations to the Goode line two nights back-High Five! Pittenger, Kyser and Weaver researchers- I am working over old research to add new documentation and adding new people to fill in blank branches whenever I can. So, check back often-until I get my recent research caught up here I might add new things nightly. :) And to answer the question once: why the will o' the wisps title? Well, will o the wisp is the general name for the Celtic Fairy Lights. There are tons of stories about the lights but my favorite is that it is a tiny sprite or fairy who carries a lantern and can lead travelers astray or who can help them. The fairy lights are also said to be the spirits of those who are trapped here. They are said to be seen near bogs, graveyards and out on the open moors-all places with desecrated or unmarked graves. Since I spend so much time in super old graveyards lately it kinda makes sense. I constantly wonder what the empty spots mean... yuck.
